The barn, formerly also known as the “Auction Barn” and location of Sure-Bid Auction Services in Hepworth is a 150+ year old barn that Jerry Ruth and his wife Lee-Anne reconstructed into a Friday night sensation providing live auctions, a source of entertainment for many local & far-and-wide bidders beginning in 1998.
Having been in the Ruth family for over 50 years, Jerry and Lee-Anne’s daughter always dreamed about hosting her own wedding there one day. When she got engaged to her (now) husband, she was eager to start the wedding planning process.
Jerry & Lee-Anne's daughter would say her parents, family, friends and wedding party worked “tirelessly” to get the barn and the grounds ready for their wedding. There were many late nights, early mornings and a lot of pizza dinners that saw the work through and has shaped the property into becoming what it is today. After their daughters wedding in 2015, the word started getting around that the “Auction Barn” was host to a wedding and it didn’t take long for other couples to start reaching out to see what their special day could look like in the barn.
Since 2015, Jerry, Lee-Anne and their daughter have built the business Spring Creek Gavel Farm into one of the most natural and breathtaking wedding and event venues in Bruce & Grey County and they take great pride in sharing that with couples and their guests.
